Still missing...
‘We don’t want people to forget. We want them to remember and to continue to pray.’ – Susanna Koh
At any one time there may be thousands of people worldwide who have been ‘disappeared’ for their beliefs – or because of the action their faith inspires them to take.
Each of these missing people leaves behind loved ones. For those families, every minute that passes builds on the seemingly never-ending torture, and it can be almost impossible to find any hope.

42 seconds changed our family
CCTV footage shows the moment that five black SUVs, two motorcycles and 15 men wearing black balaclavas took just 42 seconds to abduct Pastor Raymond Koh on a street in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia in broad daylight. An eyewitness described the February 2017 incident as ‘something out of a movie’.
Pastor Raymond hasn’t been seen or heard from since that day four years ago. His family is still seeking answers, fighting for justice and continuing to trust that God will help them find the truth.
Meeting the loved ones left behind
When someone suddenly disappears, it can devastate their family in every sense. Suspended between grief and hope, their loved ones cling to what little information they can gather themselves, while those responsible often refuse to admit any involvement.
This is why – of all the cases our joint Head of Advocacy, Anna-Lee Stangl, has worked on over the last 20 years – nothing has stuck with her like cases of forced disappearance. Here, Anna-Lee describes what it’s like to meet the loved ones left behind.
