Release Jiamei’s daddy: Li Heping, human rights lawyer.
Six-year-old Jiamei is waiting for her daddy to come home. But she’s been waiting for a long time. Since July 2015, Li Heping has been detained by the Chinese government for defending people’s rights, including the right to religious freedom.
In April 2017, Li Heping was sentenced to three years in prison for ‘subverting state power’. However, his sentence has been suspended for four years. During this suspension period, Li Heping’s political rights will be suspended and he will likely be placed under constant supervision. This suspension means Li should be released and returned to his family. However, this has yet to happen.
Jiamei is still asking: “When is my daddy coming home?”
